Why Do Golf Balls Have Dimples?

You’d think a totally smooth surface would be better at flying through the air with the least amount of wind resistance. So why do golf balls have all those little indentations? So they can use the air against itself.

Ah, golf, the thing you watch when nothing else is on and you’re not energetic enough to get off the couch. Since putting is never interesting unless the golfers are trying to time it so they don’t get their balls knocked aside by a windmill, and the audience isn’t privy to the whispers about which kind of club the golfer will use, the whole draw of the sport is pretty much seeing a clean white ball flying through the vast blue sky.

Need A Girlfriend? There’s an App for That!

Psst! Need a girlfriend? There’s an app for that! Well, a virtual girlfriend anyhow. Nelson Abalos of Pixelated Geek blog interviews the Angelina Amerson, the producer of MyVirtualGirlfriend:

In the app, you have up to 20 levels of relationship to complete. To complete a level, you must make your virtual girlfriend happy and fill your heart meter up by completing an action with her (like buying her roses, holding her hands, giving her a kiss, etc.), speaking to her, touching her (I’m not joking.), doing an activity with her (like going out to the movies or a picnic), and by just responding to her questions (Note: which are usually about herself. Go figure.) Each time you make her happy, your heart meter goes up.

Each level brings new things you could do with her. Example, instead of a simple kiss, you can make out. Instead of buying her shoes, you can buy her lingerie.

4 Guys Go on Pub Crawl for 24 Years

Four men from West Bromwich, UK got bored with their local pub and decided to check out the competition. 24 years later, they’re still going:

The four men have just visited their 14,000th pub across the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.

They have spent 24 years travelling to every corner of the country and have downed and estimated 84,000 pints of real ale, working out at 21,000 pints each. They started out determined to conquer the 250 pubs in Worcestershire and Herefordshire, but quickly revised their plans to a grander scale.

This week they called in at the Stags Leap, Rugeley, Staffs, their 14,000th pub. It also means they have now drunk in every pub across 11 English counties. They entered the Guinness Book of Records for drinking in every English county, but remain determined to have a pint in every pub in every pub in the UK and Ireland.
