Microsoft VP Makes Money-Scented Perfume

At first I thought this was some kind of joke but, as odd as it may seem, it’s not. Money scented perfume / cologne? I don’t think you are going to like the kind of girl that stuff attracts.

Patrick McCarthy, a vice president of sales at Microsoft, took a break from his day job to create His Money Cologne and Her Money Eau de Parfum, a line of his-and-hers fragrances that are designed to make the wearer smell like a million bucks — or more, depending on how much you put on.

Homes made from Plastic Bottles

Constructed with 8,000 bottles with composting toilets and a solar water heating system. The green roof can weigh 30 tons when wet and has been supported by the walls without any extra reinforcement. It is the first house in the world made from PET bottles.

Google to Launch Groupon Coupon Competitor

Google is preparing to launch Google Offers, the search giant’s Groupon competitor, Mashable has learned. We have the documents to prove it.

One of our sources has sent us a confidential fact sheet straight from the Googleplex about the company’s new group buying service. “Google Offers is a new product to help potential customers and clientele find great deals in their area through a daily email,” the fact sheet says.

Google Offers looks and operates much like Groupon or LivingSocial. Users receive an e-mail with a local deal of the day. They then have the opportunity to buy that deal within a specific time limit (we assume 24 hours). Once enough people have made the purchase, the Google Offer is triggered and users get that all-too-familiar $10 for $20 deal for that Indian restaurant they’ve never tried.

Fairly Legal Review: Series Premiere

There are few shows that hook me on the pilot episode, but Fairly Legal may be one of them. For me, the trick is to combine great characters with an interesting premise that will make me want to come back for more.

I think Fairly Legal has done that.

I’ve never been a huge fan of law shows, but a mediator is more interested in the people and their stories than the law, so I find the show’s premise satisfying. I’m also quickly falling for these characters.

14-Year-Old Whiz Kid Knocks Angry Birds Off Its Roost

The number one free download on the App Store is no longer Angry Birds, thanks to a 14-year-old kid.

While many 14-year-olds are busy cursing at adults in online multiplayer games of Call of Duty: Black Ops, Robert Nay toils away at game development. The 8th grader not only learned how to program his own iPhone game, but actually released it to hugely successful results.

Nay’s Bubble Ball has risen to the very top spot in the list of free downloads on the iOS App Store, unseating longtime champion Angry Birds. Bubble Ball was released on December 29, 2010, and has already been downloaded more than 2 million times. It’s also available on the Android marketplace, but is much more popular on the App Store.
