Speculation over IPO plans have pretty much been confirmed by a Facebook press release issued on Friday. Interested parties should start saving their pennies now; the Facebook IPO is expected in little over a year.

And even though Facebook’s all about unprecedented moves, we’re inclined to believe the company has officially set the stage for an IPO next year.

In the hollow of a maple tree not far from the road, Ron Venden has made a cozy dwelling for the 7-month-old cat he swears has never left its tree home.

“It was a little feisty at first,” said Venden, 66, a retired carpenter, of the cat, which a neighbor has named Almond. “(But) now it’s a pretty big cat and it’s just loving to see me.”

How is Venden certain the cat never leaves? Mostly because there are never any paw prints around the tree when it snows, Venden explains — something a State Journal reporter confirmed Wednesday. Relatives corroborate the story, saying they’ve never seen it anywhere other than in the tree.

A New Zealand woman was temporarily partially paralyzed by a hickey on her neck from her amorous partner, AFP reported Friday.

The 44-year-old woman went to the emergency department of Middlemore Hospital in Auckland last year after experiencing loss of movement in her left arm while watching television, doctors reported in the New Zealand Medical Journal.

Doctors concluded the woman had suffered a mild stroke but were puzzled about its cause until they found a small vertical bruise on her neck near a major artery, a hickey, she received a few days earlier.
