How About A Nice Beer Popsicle?
Beat the heat with this cheap and cool treat, the beer popsicle, aka “The Hopsicle.”
The Diablo Royale Este saloon in New York takes a Tecate, inject it with simple syrup and lime juice, then jam a wooden stick in the can hole and freeze it. Four days later, they pull it out the freezer and saw it open with a serrated steak knife. Sounds awesome! I look forward to soon saying, “I make my own beer popsicles at home.”
Medal of Honor: Battlefield 3 – You Play as the Taliban
EA’s release of Medal of Honor: Battlefield 3 Beta slated for October is a slam dunk for controversy from all sides. The battlefield is modern day Afghanistan and the players will be the US forces pitted against the Taliban. Whether or not the intent was provocative, the result will be swift and vocal from the media all the way to Congress. Wouldn’t you prefer a nice game of chess?
“In all combat simulations that we’ve entertained ourselves with, from pen and paper to movies and literature, you’ve always been able to experience combat from the enemy’s perspective,” he told AOL News. “That’s always been a draw about some of the best films that have been done about World War II.”At the end of the day, “It’s a game,” the title’s producer, Patrick Liu, told PSM3 magazine, adding that DICA and EA had no intention of provoking a reaction.
Why Do Golf Balls Have Dimples?
You’d think a totally smooth surface would be better at flying through the air with the least amount of wind resistance. So why do golf balls have all those little indentations? So they can use the air against itself.
Ah, golf, the thing you watch when nothing else is on and you’re not energetic enough to get off the couch. Since putting is never interesting unless the golfers are trying to time it so they don’t get their balls knocked aside by a windmill, and the audience isn’t privy to the whispers about which kind of club the golfer will use, the whole draw of the sport is pretty much seeing a clean white ball flying through the vast blue sky.
Need A Girlfriend? There’s an App for That!
Psst! Need a girlfriend? There’s an app for that! Well, a virtual girlfriend anyhow. Nelson Abalos of Pixelated Geek blog interviews the Angelina Amerson, the producer of MyVirtualGirlfriend:
In the app, you have up to 20 levels of relationship to complete. To complete a level, you must make your virtual girlfriend happy and fill your heart meter up by completing an action with her (like buying her roses, holding her hands, giving her a kiss, etc.), speaking to her, touching her (I’m not joking.), doing an activity with her (like going out to the movies or a picnic), and by just responding to her questions (Note: which are usually about herself. Go figure.) Each time you make her happy, your heart meter goes up.
Each level brings new things you could do with her. Example, instead of a simple kiss, you can make out. Instead of buying her shoes, you can buy her lingerie.
Star Wars on Blu-ray In 2011
George Lucas has announced that all six movies will be released on Blu-ray in 2011. What’s sure to make a lot of people angry is that the original versions will not be included.
Lucas told the New York Times that only the special editions will be included, since restoring the original versions in high enough quality would cost too much.
