The rumors of the next iPad version 3 having roughly double the screen resolution of its predecessors are looking less like rumors and more like fact. MacRumors got its hands on a iPad 3 display and examined it under the microscope. The iPad 3 is expected to be rolled out on March 7th.
Extrapolating out, the iPad 3 screen should carry a full resolution of 2048×1536, exactly twice the linear resolution of the iPad 1 and iPad 2 which is 1024×768.
