Sex, Alcohol and Showers: What Americans Would Give Up for the Internet

Just what would you give up if the Internet was taken away from you? For some, sex, alcohol, showers, and chocolate are on the list, according to a report by the Boston Consulting Group.

The study, which is focused on the importance of the Internet on the economy, predicts that by 2016 the Internet will account for 5.2 precent of GDP for G20 countries. However, it’s the supporting facts that show how dependent consumers are on the Internet. And the findings are both striking and humorous.

The researchers found that 21 percent of Americans would give up sex for Internet connectivity. As the infographic below illustrates, 73 percent would give up alcohol, 69 percent would give up coffee, and 77 percent chocolate rather than give up the Internet for the year.

Walmart Hoping To Get Cash-Only Customers To Shop Online

Called “Pay With Cash,” the program would allow the approximately 20% of Walmart customers who lack bank accounts or credit cards to reserve products for pick-up online and then pick them up at a nearby Walmart, where they would, as the name suggests, pay with cash.

How facebook could land you in jail…

A man who made comments about his estranged wife on his Facebook page and was threatened with jail unless he posted daily apologies for a month won’t be locked up even though he stopped making amends early.

Mark Byron agreed to begin posting the apology last month to avoid jail but later said the ruling violated his freedom of speech. He stopped posting the apology after 26 days, but Judge Jon Sieve, of Hamilton County Domestic Relations Court, determined Monday that he had posted it long enough, and Byron wasn’t jailed.

Best Dine & Dash – Have a few drinks jump off a Skyscraper

Restaurant owner Shannon Bennett said the four men – wearing business suits – walked into the venue’s Lui Bar with travel suitcases and ordered Negroni cocktails before throwing themselves off the building.

“Basically, four guys came upstairs with parachutes hidden underneath their jackets,” Mr Bennett said. “One went to the bathroom, followed by the rest, straight out to the balcony and pretty much jumped straight off.”
