Since the rise of the Internet in the ’90s, the web has shown no signs of slowing down. We’ve watched the birth and evolution of social media, e-commerce and online video entertainment.

It’s hard to imagine that the treasured websites we all use today were at one point just scribbles on a piece of paper, or the brainchild of a 19-year-old college student. With the help of the Wayback Machine, which provides screenshots of any website imaginable from its inception until now, we’re can view the original designs and content of the most visited websites in the U.S.

Steve Jobs to live on with 7-foot tall bronze statue

As co-founder and longtime CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs garnered quite a fanbase before his unfortunate passing earlier this year. From his visible position within the tech giant, he became a beloved figure in the world of consumer electronics. A computer software company in Hungary is showing just how much Jobs meant to them by commissioning a bronze statue in Jobs’s likeness that stands a mighty 7′ tall.

Chairman Gabor Bojar of Graphisoft is the man behind the metal model, and sculptor Erno Toth is the artist doing the heavy lifting. Toth is building the Jobs replica using a photo of the Apple founder from an old issue of the magazine, The Economist. Bojar claims his love of Jobs first sprouted when the two met at a tech expo nearly three decades ago.

How to Make Paper Snow Flakes

This instructable will show you the fine art of Paper Snow Flake making. Now, these ain’t your mama’s paper snow flakes, these are intricate, themed creations.

I have been making these delicate decorations now for over ten years. I was originally taught how to make them by a very good friend of mine, Glenn Tong. My first encounter with them were by Glenn using them as decorations at a Christmas party my family used to attend every year. I can remember as a small child looking up in wonder of his marvelous creations: dancing pigs, the Eiffel tower, and lobsters. Since he has taught me making them has sort of become a tradition. Some designs come back every year, others last only once. Either way, each one is the continuation of a a tradition, and has sacred happy memories attached.

Man robs bank to get medical care in jail

Some people who need medical care but can’t afford it go to the emergency room. Others just hope they’ll get better. James Richard Verone robbed a bank.

Earlier this month, Verone (pictured), a 59-year-old convenience store clerk, walked into a Gastonia, N.C., bank and handed the cashier a note demanding $1 and medical attention. Then he waited calmly for police to show up. He’s now in jail and has an appointment with a doctor this week.

Lifestyle Causes 40% Of Cancers

Nearly half of cancers diagnosed in the UK each year – over 130,000 in total – are caused by avoidable life choices including smoking, drinking and eating the wrong things, a review reveals.

Tobacco is the biggest culprit, causing 23% of cases in men and 15.6% in women, says the Cancer Research UK report. Next comes a lack of fresh fruit and vegetables in men’s diets, while for women it is being overweight.
