Last Night A Pizza Delivery Driver Saved My Life

Concerned Memphis pizza delivery woman Susan Guy went to check in on an elderly regular after the latter — who had made a habit of ordering from the same Domino’s every day for three years — hadn’t made a pizza delivery request in three days.

After knocking on the door and banging on windows to no avail, the Domino’s driver phoned 911, which dispatched police to break down the door. The 82-year-old customer had apparently taken a tumble, and was unable to get up or reach a phone.

She was taken to the hospital, where she is resting in stable condition. “Maybe I’ll make her a pizza, take it to the hospital,” Guy told Action News 5.

The original Coca Cola recipe discovered

For 125 years, Coke’s secret recipe has remained one of the most heavily guarded trade secrets in the world. Now a group of accidental soda sleuths say they’ve stumbled across a list of its ingredients.

It was published in the February 18, 1979 issue of Atlanta Journal-Constitution, but no-one payed much attention to it at the time. The article features a photo of a recipe, allegedly hand-written by John Pemberton, inventor of Coca-Cola.

The recipe:
Fluid extract of Coca: 3 drams USP
Citric acid: 3 oz
Caffeine: 1 oz
Sugar: 30 (unclear quantity)
Water: 2.5 gal
Lime juice: 2 pints, 1 quart
Vanilla: 1 oz
Caramel: 1.5 oz or more for color

The secret 7X flavor (use 2 oz of flavor to 5 gals syrup):
Alcohol: 8 oz
Orange oil: 20 drops
Lemon oil: 30 drops
Nutmeg oil: 10 drops
Coriander: 5 drops
Neroli: 10 drops
Cinnamon: 10 drops

Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior

A lot of people wonder how Chinese parents raise such stereotypically successful kids. They wonder what these parents do to produce so many math whizzes and music prodigies, what it’s like inside the family, and whether they could do it too. Well, I can tell them, because I’ve done it.
