Born on July 4, Mchawi is the seventh member of the okapi family living in Antwerp zoo. The natural habitat for the okapi, a member of the giraffe family, is threatened by deforestation and poaching. The only country where they can still be found in the wild is the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Greatest Movie Franchises of All Time

Last May, the Harry Potter films were declared by Box Office Mojo to be the most successful film franchise of all time. It’s true that the first seven films in the series—the eight installment, The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 hits theaters Friday—grossed a mammoth $2 billion in the U.S. Critics have been particularly kind to the series as well, with some even arguing that the most recent film was better than the book.

But taking both box office and reviews into account, is Harry Potter the Greatest Movie Franchise of All Time?

The Milky Way so close you can almost taste it.

A star-gazer has come a little bit closer to the final frontier – after spending 18 months photographing the night sky.

With just an ordinary digital camera, Alex Cherney turned thousands of snaps into an incredible time-lapse video of the cosmos. Using long exposures to allow more light in, these breath-taking pictures from the southern tip of Australia demonstrate how he captured the dramatic way the sky changes at night.

Apple Now Has More Cash Than the US Government

For the time being, Apple Corporation has more cash reserve than the US government by around $3 Billion dollars. Maybe Apple should just buyout the government and operate it as a for profit corporation for a change. Apple seems to be very good in that respect.

As of June 25, 2011, the company is now sitting on nearly $76 billion in case reserve.

New scientific research reveals diamonds aren’t forever

But before diamond lovers around the world start to panic, he is quick to note that the rate of evaporation is very small and not noticeable under normal conditions. In fact, even under very bright UV conditions, such as intense sunlight or under a UV tanning lamp, it would take approximately the age of the universe – about 10 billion years – to see an observable distance, he said.

The findings not only provide clues about the long-term stability of diamonds, but also have broad implications for future research.
